It's snowing outside today. I love it because it feels like Christmas. The beauty of it is Boise gets snow on and off throughout the winter but it melts in a day or two. My dogs love it.  The quilt in the picture I made for a ugly fabric contest. They gave us a fat quarter and we had to use as much as we could. The dark blue fabric is the ugly fabric. So I came up with this snowman. I designed the pattern and I think it turned out good. But I didn't win. The one thing we had to agree to was it leaving it hanging in the Quilt shop for a month so customers could vote. It's a really fun and challenging idea.
What type of contests does your local Quilt Shop put on?

Xmas

This has been a very productive week. I finished all my Christmas shopping. Now the dreaded wrapping begins. Finally got my snowman cookie jar collection out and I am so happy. Snowmen are my favorite. All my  Christmas decor is snowmen except not all my Quilts.  I made this little tree Quilt in a class that I took. My Quilt teacher designed the tree part of the pattern. Of coarse I had to put my twist on it so I added packages under the tree and beaded the tree. I love to be different.

Elf on a shelf

That sure was a quick weekend. Seems like the older I get the faster time goes by. Ten more days until Christmas Eve. I finishing up my decoration and found the famous Elf for my shelf. I couldn't resist taking my Sophie's Christmas picture with him. It's so funny to see one of my childhood memories become so popular. That's how old my this Elf is.

2015 flew by

Time is flying by. Christmas is in fifteen days. It's coming up so fast and I'm feeling the pressure of getting my projects finished. I'm almost done with my new tree skirt.  Hopefully I will get it done by the end of the week. In the mean time I've taken some breaks to do a few small things to match.  I just finished these coasters yesterday. They are so much fun to make. I've got  a huge collection going. I also find them to be great gifts.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I got together with a friend who wants to learn how to Quilt. She decided on
a nine patch pattern in green and beige materials. We had a lot of fun. I love to make holiday towels. Usually using scraps from my holiday projects so everything matches. I buy solid colored cotton towels and put wide strips of fabric across one edge of each towel. I also make them to give away to my  friends and family as gifts.

I'm always looking for ways to make great dinners but fast. I have always tried to plan  my slow cooker ahead of time so first thing in the morning I could throw my meal together, turn on the Crockpot and head to my Quilt Room. But I have recently been introduced to the pressure cooker. I absolutely love it. We all have the best time of the day that we like to Quilt and get the most done. Mine is mornings. I can get up at 4am and get so much accomplished. I'm not a night Quilter. I love the fact I can make my whole meal together in my new pressure cooker late in the afternoon and it's ready in under an hour. I found the cookbook on Amazon and it is wonderful.

FALL!

Fall is in full swing. For some of you it feels like winter. I'm getting anxious for Thanksgiving to get here. I love the colors of the bushes and trees. I especially love the family time. These books are part of my Fall collection. They never get old and I've used them for so many project ideas. I'm trying to enjoy the beauty of Fall before it's gone for another year.
I will be sharing my projects soon.

Turkey Quilt

It just kinda hit me this morning. One week until Thanksgiving. I guess I better get busy and go shopping for my turkey dinner. This year it's just my husband and I. So not too much pressure. My husband enjoys helping  me cook. Today is my quilt group. We meet once a month and always at my house. I like it that way. I love to cook for them a nice lunch. Of coarse we always have desert. I made chocolate cake. Yummy. As we all know chocolate is a must when we Quilt.
The mini turkey quilt I made last year at a Quilting retreat. It was fun and festive for a fall project.

Snow! Snow! Snow!

We got a little more snow last night. It is pretty especially the first couple of times. Then it's another chore shoveling. Today is my husbands birthday. I'm baking him his favorite chocolate cake. I like to make his day as special as I can. But it's taking away from my Quilting time haha. Really I don't mind.  In the picture is a wooden welcome pole that I made. I also made the welcome sign and the seasonal chicken wire sign. I keep it by my front door. As the holidays change I make new small decorative things to hang in the middle of the chicken wire. It's a lot of fun and festive. It gives me a break from
piecing.

Winter Falls

I think Fall in Idaho is coming to an end. We got out first light snow last night. Not ready for that yet. I'm just in the middle of all my Fall Projects and I am getting ready for Thanksgiving. On the positive side the cold weather gets my creative juices flowing and all I can think about is getting all my chores done so I can spend more time in my Quilt Room. The Fall wall hanging is one of my favorites. I love the colors and I also love that I can use it on a table as a
small runner.

Just wanted to give you a little update. My Sammy is doing great. It was really hard for me to decide to get a new dog. My little Dollie was my life. She was my sons Special Needs Dog. She lived to be almost 21 years old. She out lived my son.
So Sammy doesn't take her place but she makes my life complete. Love her so much.

Post your pets pictures on my facebook page. I would love to learn about them.

Outdoor Pizza Oven

Here it is. I told you I would share as soon as I had my wood burning pizza oven up and cooking. Last Sunday was experiment day.  The first thing I had to make was the dough. I decided to make two different kinds of dough. Regular and wheat. I tend to  look for the healthier alternative but my husband likes the regular version. Once the dough was ready rolled it out and started to make the pizzas. The fun part was I got to use some of my homegrown tomatoes and basil. I made them single serving and we sampled the first round to see what we liked best. Victory!!! Both were incredible. Can't wait to make pizza for my Quilting group.

Happy Halloween!

I really enjoying all of the Quilted Halloween things I made this year and the crafts that I created.
I am starting my Thanksgiving crafts and getting out all of my decor for the house and porch. My crazy mind is already planning my Thanksgiving  feast. I decided this year it's going to be all of the traditional foods from when I and my husband were kids. Call me anal I can't help it. In this picture is the Halloween set I made this year. A lap Quilt for the couch, matching place mats and coasters. I just love doing this for every holiday. And of coarse more of the Halloween themed pumpkins from my collection.

Almost Halloween

The weather is finally cooling off like winter is around the corner. As much as I miss the backyard cookouts and the beautiful flowers I look forward to more Quilting time. It really get my creative juices flowing when the weather changes.
All my Halloween material is back in my stash  and all my fall fabric is out so I can began creating some new Quilts. I started my first one and it is turkey inspired. The quilt in the picture I designed and had such a good time making it. I also painted and decorated the witches shoe to go along with it. So much fun.

Halloween Fabrics

I'm getting ready to put all of my Halloween fabrics away. No more new projects to start but boy do I have a lot of Halloween Fabric. I think I have an addiction to Halloween Fabrics. Okay I know I do. I can't help myself when I see something new. I went to a local Quilt Shop last week and they had another new line of Halloween Fabrics that I hadn't seen and it took everything in my power not to buy it. Last August I attended one of the local Quilt Shows and found these two little miniature Halloween Bags. I thought they were so cute. I had to buy them. Next to them is another pumpkin I made this year. So many clever ideas out there. I just love finding new things to make.

Halloween in 4 Days!

Four more days! Halloween will be here. I am all decorated and I have completely finished all of my projects. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the Trick or Treaters come to the door. When my son Chris was little it was our tradition to go to the fabric store on Sept 1st every year so he could pick out his Halloween pattern for me to start making his Halloween costume. It was our special time and I cherish those days. As he got older he said to me one year " mom I'm too old for that". I was devastated. But they are awesome memories. The Quilt in this picture I made last year. Again anything pumpkin I love so a lot of my Halloween and Fall Quilts have pumpkins in them. I thought he was really cute.

Share your Halloween projects on my facebook page and my blog.

Farmers Wife Quilt

Farmers Wife! Most of us have either heard of it, tried it or made it. I don't think I have ever been more frustrated trying to follow a pattern. There is no true quarter inch seam. I found that some blocks are true quarter and some blocks are scant quarter. My Quilting instructor had a class that lasted a year and this pattern was our theme quilt in the local Quilt show. Most of my friends did traditional fabrics related to that time but not me. I went out of the normal box and used my favorite Halloween fabrics. I didn't get mine finished yet it's a work in progress. Hopefully I will finish it soon so stay tuned.

Quilting and Coffee

Coffee is such a staple for Quilters. I look forward to the early mornings and my first up of coffee. I enjoy trying different coffee beans and I usually have at least 6 to 8 different coffee beans to choose from. Because I am such a neat freak I put all my beans in jars and label them. I also collect different seasonal coffee mugs to make it more fun. My Quilting group loves to drink coffee while we are working and my variety of flavored creamers add to the variety of choices.

 Candy Corn

I was really excited to start sharing my new Halloween projects with you. This table runner was something I designed and was so much fun to do. I love Halloween and I have a real problem staying away from buying more Halloween fabric every year. Needless to say my stash is Huge... So I have a lot of things to share this month. The candy corn is a side project that I took up this year. You buy the wood item unfinished then paint and paper it with scrap booking paper. So much fun to do and great to give away as gifts.  So please share your Halloween projects on my facebook page.

Fun Halloween Project

I'm just about finished with all of my Halloween projects. I'm working on my last one so I can start on my actual Fall
themed projects. I have a lot of ideas of what I am going to do. In the mean time I used some of the scrap Halloween
material to make two sets of coasters. As I have said in the past I love to swap out coasters for each holiday or special
event. I get lots of compliments and they are so easy to make. The pumpkin is one of many that I made with Halloween material. So much fun and they are so festive.

Halloween Is Around The Corner

I finally finished all my Halloween projects. Getting ready to start Thanksgiving. I'm kinda sad because I really love Halloween and especially love making anything with Pumpkins or Witches. The cat in the corner is another one of
my new hobbies. It's really fun and I usually take breaks from my sewing machine to paint and decorate them. Great gifts and awesome decor for holidays.

Meal Planning

Sometimes planning lunches for my monthly quilt group can be a hastIe. I  like to cook for my Quilting group and keeping it healthy is a plus. I subscribe to Cooking Light Magazine because they have so many great ideas and I know it will taste good. As I get the magazine each month I mark the recipes with little color tabs. I use green for group recipe ideas and pink for family dinners. It works really great because I can just pick a green tab, get the ingredients together and cook.
Great tasting lunches mean happy Quilters.

Quilting Companions

I know most of us have Quilting companions. I know I do. Actually I have three of them so my Quilting Room can get a little crowded at times. I know they just want to help me and critique my work. I do appreciate them. They also give me someone to talk to either when I'm impressed with my work or frustrated when I have to pick up that annoying seam ripper. So let's pay tribute to them today. It's National Dog Day. So thanks Sophie, Yoshi and my newest Quilt buddy Sammy. Hugs, cookies and kisses are in order all day today.

Halloween Fabrics

It's been a week but I'm back and as you can see why. Yes Halloween fabrics.  I love the fall and it's less than a month away. YEAH. I found these fabrics on my travels for this years projects. Trust me this is just a few of my purchases but I  thought I would share them with you. Now that I have all my fabric in hand my mind is starting to plan how I want to use them. So let the design process begin. I would love to see your fall fabrics. You can post them on my Facebook page.

This is going to be so much fun.
